Toast Any Season with Champagne Punch
Everyone loves a good reason to raise their glass and make a toast to loved ones, friends, good times and cheer no matter what time of year. But providing a full-stocked bar at the holiday party can be a somewhat overwhelming task to add to the party list for any host.
That’s when a bowl of champagne punch steps in to add the festive flair.
A spiked drink with champagne bubbles is easy for guests to self-serve, and with punched-up homemade ice cubes, this festive citrus and pomegranate champagne punch adds joy all around.
What’s In Champagne Punch
The ingredient list is simple and do-able for even the novice bartender, and includes:
- Pomegranate juice
- Orange juice
- Orange flavored liquer such as Grand Marnier
- Champagne, prosecco, or other sparkling wine
- Orange slices
- Pomegranate seeds
- Fresh mint leaves
This punch makes it easy to swap ingredients around too, like:
- Instead of Champagne use prosecco, cava, or sparkling wine
- Instead of pomegranate juice try sweetened cranberry cocktail juice
- Instead of orange juice try pineapple, peach, or mango juice
- Instead of pomegranate seeds try raspberries, blackberries, or cranberries
- Instead of fresh mint try sprigs of rosemary
How to Make Festive Frozen Ice Cubes
Part of the attraction of this punch is it’s wow factor. I made my punch extra cheers-y by freezing ice cubes with pomegranate seeds and mint leaves. They’re super easy to make and add a true festive flair.
Start by adding a few mint leaves to to the slots of the ice cube trays. I found using the larger leaves helped hold the pomegranates so they didn’t all drop to the bottom. I also tried to strategically move the seeds to the outsides of the tray slots to show the seeds off at their best.
What to Use Instead of Champagne
Authentic French Champagne can be spendy for some budgets and not always the most economical choice when using as part of a punch where it’s special characteristics are mellowed out with other juices.
I often use prosecco in this punch because it’s more economical than the real champs from France. Cava or a white sparkling wine work well too.
How to Make a Non-Alchoholic Champagne Punch
This punch is easily adaptable as a non-alcoholic version. Simply substitute the champagne for sparkling cider or orange flavored sparkling soda.
I like to add thin slices of orange to the punch for a “punch” of brightness. More pomegranate seeds liven up the bubbles too.
How to Make Champagne Punch Ahead of Time
So that the punch stays colder longer, chill the juice for at least 4 hours before serving so the ice cubes don’t melt off right away.
This punch is perfect for assembling a day or two before serving.
- Make your ice cubes 1 week or even 1 month ahead of time and keep frozen until ready to serve.
- Mix the juices together and store in juice containers in the fridge until ready to serve.
- Slice the orange and seed your pomegranate up to 2 days before serving.
- Combine all of the ingredients just before the party!

Can I use Cointreau instead of Gran Marnier?
Heidi
Yes that would totally work Rachel. Cheers!

thank you, what a nice tradition you engage in with your sorority sisters! Saw this and had to comment, I prefer prosecco too, mostly for the taste v champagne, or maybe because I associate champagne with huge headaches! Love the orange and pomegranate, even after Christmas, so thank you very much!
Lisa
Do you have any suggestions for what type of orange flavored sparkling soda is best for this punch?
thank you
